A centrifugal fan, also known as a radial fan or centrifugal fan, draws in the air in the direction of the engine axis or parallel to the drive axis. The air is deflected by rotating the elaborately optimised impellers through 90°. The air is then blown out radially, hence the name. Centrifugal fans are used wherever a greater pressure increase is required for the same air volume compared to axial fans. They are also ideal for conveying hot fluid temperatures or very dusty air, as the electric motor, which sits outside the air flow, can be protected by a special design.
